Professional experience
Dr Bewley primarily specialises in working with adults (young adults, adults, and older adults) with physical or/and mental health difficulties.
Areas of specialist expertise include adult mental health and chronic pain management. Dr Bewley is highly experienced in working with adults who experience interpersonal and relational difficulties, and who may have experienced trauma and abuse in their early lives or as an adult.
Jane completed Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) practitioner training in 2017 and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) training in 2025. She has also undergone additional training and workshops in other therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and can therefore draw upon or integrate a number of different therapeutic models to create an individualised therapy that is specifically personalised for you.
Professional Registration
A Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) is the highest professional qualification required to become a practicing Clinical Psychologist. All Clinical Psychologists must be registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) as Practitioner Psychologists and the aim of the HCPC is to protect the public by setting and maintaining standards of proficiency and conduct for the professions it regulates. The HCPC not only ensures accredited, robust training has been completed and that rigorous standards of training, professional skills and behaviour are met, but also that skills are continuously updated. Dr Bewley has completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and is registered with the HCPC.
How Jane works
Jane’s approach is down to earth, genuine and relatable. It is really important that you feel seen, heard and understood and that you feel emotionally safe and secure within the therapeutic relationship.
Jane uses her professional skills as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and lived experience to understand your difficulties and support you through the challenging time you are experiencing. Naturally and understandably, we all struggle emotionally at times and can feel really ‘stuck’ or that things will never get any better. It is important that you feel safe to explore your feelings in a space that feels accepting and validating and that real trust can develop. You can be assured that your best interests will always be the priority.
The utilisation of evidence-based psychological therapies alongside Jane’s experience and individual approach can help to support you, to make sense of your situation and to understand your response to it. Together, we can help you think about your future and to reconnect you with who you are and what is important, fulfilling and meaningful in your life. Psychological therapy can often help you to move from a position in which you may feel powerless, helpless and out of control to feeling empowered and in control.
